Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has emerged victorious in the Dhaka-15 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, according to unofficial results.

Shafiqur Rahman secured a total of 82,645 votes, defeating his nearest rival, BNP candidate Md Safiqul Islam Khan, who received 61,920 votes. The victory margin of 20,725 votes reflects a clear lead for the Jamaat Ameer in this highly contested capital constituency.

Voting in Dhaka-15 took place in a largely peaceful and orderly environment across all polling centres. Election observers and local officials reported a steady turnout throughout the day, with voters actively exercising their franchise.

Shafiqur Rahman, contesting with the “Scales” symbol, has previously held significant political positions and leveraged his campaign to address local development issues and public concerns. His win in Dhaka-15 further strengthens Jamaat-e-Islami’s presence in the capital region.

Md Safiqul Islam Khan, running with the BNP’s “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, conceded the contest following the announcement of preliminary results, acknowledging Shafiqur Rahman’s lead.

The final official results will be declared by the Election Commission after verification and consolidation of votes from all centres.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman’s victory marks a notable outcome in the Dhaka constituencies, reflecting voter preference and political dynamics in the area.
