Tangail-2 sees BNP’s Abdus Salam Pintu ahead in unofficial count

Md Abdus Salam Pintu, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate, has secured an unofficial victory in the Tangail-2 seat in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

Pintu received 198,213 votes, while his nearest rival, Md Humayun Kabir of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, secured 60,871 votes.

In the accompanying referendum, 162,060 voters cast “Yes” votes, while 74,875 voted “No”.

The result was announced on Friday by Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the Election Commission, at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon.
