Hummam Quader Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate, has been declared the winner in Chattogram-7 in the unofficial results of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
Chowdhury received 101,445 votes, while his nearest rival, ATM Rezaul Karim of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, secured 41,719 votes.
In the accompanying referendum, 97,185 voters cast “Yes” votes, while 67,378 voted “No”.
The result was announced on Friday by Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the Election Commission, at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon.
