Six candidates from the National Citizen Party (NCP) have secured victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, marking a significant breakthrough for the relatively new political platform.
Among the winners is the party’s Convener Nahid Islam, who won the Dhaka-11 constituency. He secured 93,872 votes and defeated his nearest rival by a margin of more than 2,000 votes, according to unofficial results.
The other successful candidates include NCP’s Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain from Rangpur-4; Chief Organiser (South) Hasnat Abdullah from Cumilla-4; Joint Chief Coordinator Hannan Masud from Noakhali-6; Atikur Rahman Mojahid from Kurigram-2; and Abdullah Al Amin from Narayanganj-4.
Party sources said NCP candidates are also leading in several other constituencies, though final confirmation awaits the official announcement by the Election Commission.
Following the preliminary results, Nahid Islam instructed party leaders and activists to remain stationed at polling centres until the final results are formally declared, emphasising vigilance in the post-counting process.
The victories signal a notable entry for the NCP into the national parliamentary landscape, potentially positioning the party as an emerging force in Bangladesh’s evolving political arena.
Official results are expected to be confirmed by the Election Commission after completion of verification procedures.
