BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday night visited the residence of National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, signalling early efforts to foster cooperation among political forces before forming the next government.

Tarique arrived at Nahid’s Bailey Road residence at around 8:30 pm, where he was warmly welcomed with a floral wreath.

The meeting focused on future coordination and collaboration between the parties to support a stable and inclusive political environment.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the party’s Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan accompanied Tarique during the visit.

The discussion comes a day after Tarique called on all political parties to work together to build a “safe and humane Bangladesh.” This interaction marks one of the first formal engagements of Tarique with other political leaders following BNP’s landslide victory in Thursday’s National Parliamentary Election.

BNP secured 209 seats in the recent polls, giving it a clear mandate to form the next government. The NCP won six seats, positioning it as a key partner for political dialogue and collaboration.

Tarique’s meeting with Nahid is being seen as an initial step towards inclusive governance and coordination with smaller parties in the lead-up to the new administration assuming office.
