Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has condemned the rape and murder of a teenage girl in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
In a formal statement issued on Friday, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair described the kidnapping, rape and killing as a grave violation of humanity, morality and the rule of law. He expressed deep concern over the incident and termed it a serious threat to public safety and social stability.
Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair conveyed condolences to the victim’s family and prayed for the deceased. He urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that all individuals involved are arrested without delay, regardless of political affiliation or social status.
“There is no scope for concessions to rapists, whether they belong to BNP or any other party. Attempts to cover up such incidents constitute an even greater crime,” he said, adding that failure to deliver justice would erode public trust in the legal system and embolden criminals.
The Jamaat leader emphasised that political influence, social pressure or compromise must not interfere in the judicial process in cases of serious crimes such as rape and murder. He reiterated that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has consistently advocated for justice, human rights and the protection of citizens.
He also called on the government to adopt effective and stringent measures to prevent violence against women and children nationwide, including stronger law enforcement, swift prosecution and improved community protection mechanisms.
The incident in Madhabdi has renewed focus on women’s safety, criminal justice accountability and the effectiveness of legal safeguards in Bangladesh.
