Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday organised a protest rally in Dhaka condemning what it termed a “military attack” on Iran and the reported killing of the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following recent US-Israel strikes.

The demonstration was held at 3pm near the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and drew a significant number of party leaders, activists and supporters who gathered to express opposition to the escalation of violence in the Middle East.

Speaking at the rally as the chief guest, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam strongly criticised the attacks, describing them as a violation of sovereignty and international norms.

He claimed the developments were not limited to Iran but had broader implications for democracy, human rights and global stability.

“This aggression is against humanity and the principles of justice,” he said, urging political and international organisations to take a firm stance against further escalation.

Azharul Islam also called on the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to intervene and initiate diplomatic efforts to stop the conflict.

He warned that prolonged instability in the Middle East could have economic and social repercussions worldwide, including potential impacts on Bangladesh and its expatriate community.

Other party leaders, including Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Publicity Affairs Secretary Advocate Motiur Rahman Akand and Nurul Islam Bulbul, MP, addressed the rally, reiterating demands for an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic engagement to resolve tensions through peaceful dialogue.
