Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday extended his greetings and best wishes to women in Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

In a message shared on his Facebook page, Dr Shafiqur highlighted the vital role women play in shaping families, communities and the overall development of the nation.

He said women’s contributions to the social, economic and cultural progress of the country are immense and should be recognised and valued at every level of society.

The Jamaat leader said the country must move towards creating an environment where women enjoy equal opportunities in education, employment and leadership.

He also stressed the need to eliminate discrimination and wage inequality in workplaces so that women can participate fully in the nation’s development process.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman emphasised that ensuring the safety, dignity and security of women must remain a top priority for both the government and society.

He called for stronger and more effective action against all forms of violence, harassment and disrespect towards women.

He also underscored the importance of encouraging girls to take part in science, technology, education and innovation, saying that greater participation of women in these sectors would help build a more progressive and balanced society.

According to Dr Shafiqur, a society grounded in moral values, humanity and strong family principles can help protect women’s rights and dignity. He also noted that women from all religions and communities in Bangladesh deserve equal respect and cooperation.

Urging collective efforts, the Jamaat Ameer said everyone must work together to build a safe, inclusive and dignified Bangladesh, where women can move forward confidently and realise their full potential.
