Bangladesh’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to convene a meeting of its highest decision-making body on Saturday evening, marking its first such gathering in nearly three months.
Party sources said the Standing Committee meeting will take place at 8:30pm at the BNP chairperson’s political office in the Gulshan area of Dhaka. The session is expected to be chaired by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Officials within the party confirmed that preparations for the meeting are underway, with senior leaders expected to attend the closed-door discussion. While the agenda has not been publicly disclosed, such meetings typically focus on organisational strategy and the broader political situation.
A member of the party’s media cell, Shairul Kabir Khan, confirmed the timing and venue of the meeting, noting that it will be presided over by the party chief.
The upcoming session follows the last Standing Committee meeting held on January 9, indicating a notable interval between high-level consultations within the party.
The gathering comes at a time when Bangladesh’s political landscape remains closely watched, with major parties continuing internal deliberations as they navigate evolving national dynamics.
