The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to begin interviews of aspirants for reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament on Friday.
The announcement was made on Thursday at a press briefing held at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He said a large number of candidates have already submitted applications seeking nomination for the reserved women’s seats. In response, the party’s nomination board will conduct interviews over two consecutive days at its Gulshan office, beginning at 3pm each day.
Rizvi also stated that BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will chair the nomination board sessions, while members of the party’s standing committee will be present during the interviews.
According to the schedule announced, candidates from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Faridpur divisions will appear for interviews on Friday. On the following day, Saturday, aspirants from Chattogram, Sylhet, Cumilla, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions will be interviewed.
Party leaders said the interview process is aimed at finalising nominations for the reserved women’s seats in a structured and transparent manner ahead of the formation of the new parliament.
The BNP leadership also indicated that the selection process will consider political involvement, leadership capacity, and contribution to the party when evaluating candidates.
The interviews are expected to play a key role in determining the party’s representation in the reserved seats of the upcoming parliament.
