National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has been served with a legal notice over allegations of making defamatory and offensive remarks concerning Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman.
The notice was issued by Advocate AKM Azizul Haque Khan, a lawyer at the Mymensingh Judge Court and also a Public Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the notice, Nasiruddin Patwary allegedly made objectionable comments in recent days that were considered insulting and defamatory toward the Prime Minister and his daughter. The sender claimed the remarks had hurt the emotions and sentiments of millions of people across the country.
The notice also alleged that the NCP leader made statements on social media platforms regarding the matter, which the complainant described as inappropriate and offensive. Advocate Azizul Haque Khan stated that he personally felt aggrieved by the comments and decided to issue the legal notice seeking an explanation.
Nasiruddin Patwary has been asked to provide a written clarification within 15 days explaining why a defamation case should not be filed against him in connection with the alleged remarks.
The notice warned that if no satisfactory response is received within the specified period, legal proceedings would be initiated through the court.
The development has drawn attention in political circles, as tensions continue over statements and counter-statements involving political leaders and public figures on social media and in public forums.
