Inqilab Moncho on Wednesday announced a fresh series of protest programmes demanding justice for the killing of its slain leader Sharif Osman Hadi, alongside calls for the repatriation of the alleged killers from India and a full disclosure of what it describes as domestic and international conspiracies behind the incident.
The announcement was made by the organisation’s Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber at an emergency press conference held in front of Dhaka University’s Madhur Canteen. Expressing dissatisfaction over what the group termed repeated delays in the investigation process, the platform urged authorities to ensure a prompt and time-bound judicial procedure.
As part of the new agitation plan, a torch procession is scheduled for Thursday evening. This will be followed by a protest march after Friday prayers from the Dhaka University central mosque. The organisation also said similar demonstrations would be organised in various parts of the country to press home its demands.
At the briefing, Abdullah Al Jaber alleged that the probe report into the killing has been repeatedly postponed, warning that further delays would not be accepted. He also claimed that attempts were being made to frame the incident within “narrow political narratives” while concealing what he described as deeper underlying factors.
He further raised allegations suggesting possible external involvement, referring to remarks made by a former West Bengal chief minister, which he said hinted at influential actors behind the killing. According to him, such involvement, if proven, could have serious implications.
The group also questioned how the suspects allegedly managed to flee through border areas shortly after the killing, and criticised intelligence agencies for their response. It demanded stronger accountability from authorities and reiterated its call for an independent international investigation led by the United Nations to ensure neutrality and transparency in the case.
