The 12-Party Alliance has expressed deep concern over both recent push-in incidents along the Bangladesh-India border and the growing economic pressures facing ordinary citizens, warning that the two issues require urgent attention from the government.

The concerns were raised during a discussion held at the alliance’s temporary central office recently, where leaders reviewed the country's current political, economic and social situation.

Speaking at the meeting, alliance leaders said any push-in attempt that threatens Bangladesh’s borders, sovereignty and national security would be firmly resisted by the people of the country. They stressed that there can be no compromise on national independence and sovereignty under any circumstances.

The alliance described unilateral actions that violate international law, diplomatic norms and the spirit of good neighbourly relations as a matter of serious concern. The leaders also praised members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar personnel and local residents for their role in responding to recent border developments.

Alongside border issues, the alliance voiced concern over the country's worsening economic situation. According to the leaders, repeated increases in fuel, gas and electricity prices have pushed living costs beyond the reach of many households.

They said higher energy prices are driving up commodity costs, increasing industrial production expenses and placing additional pressure on the agricultural sector. These factors, they warned, could deepen the country's economic challenges if effective measures are not taken.

The alliance urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability in the energy sector and called on authorities to avoid imposing further price hikes on consumers.

The meeting was chaired by alliance chief and former minister Mustafa Jamal Haider.

Among those present were alliance spokesperson and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh Secretary General Dr Mohi Uddin Ekram, Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Md Shamsuddin Parvez, National Labor Party Chairman Lion Faruk Rahman, Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party Chairman M A Bashar, Pragatishil Nationalist Party Chairman Firoz Mohammad Liton, Naya Ganatantrik Party Chairman Master M A Mannan, Islami Oikya Jote Secretary General Maulana Abdul Karim, Senior Vice Chairman Maulana Shawkat Amin, and Naya Ganatantrik Party Secretary General Dr Kazi Imrul Kayes, among others.
