National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has warned the BNP not to “mess with” students, saying they would “pack you off to London”.

Speaking at an NCP street rally in Bogura on Monday, Patwary urged HSC and equivalent examination candidates not to be afraid.

Referring to the recent student demonstrations in Dhaka and five other districts demanding the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, he alleged that protesters near the parliament had been baton-charged, kicked with boots and grabbed by the collar.

“Don’t mess with these students. They’ll pack you off to London,” he said, adding that when the students enter universities in the future, they would say they did not want the BNP.

The NCP leader also responded to criticism that members of his party were “July businessmen”.

“Yes, we will be July businessmen a thousand times over. But we will never become tender businessmen like you,” he said.

At the end of his speech, Patwary announced AMZ Shahriar Juhin as the NCP’s candidate for the Bogura Sadar Upazila chairman post.

Earlier, speaking at another NCP street rally in Dupchanchia Upazila, the party’s Chief Organiser for the Northern Region, Sarjis Alam, warned that the government would face the same fate as the “fallen fascist government” if it ignored the referendum verdict and failed to implement the July Charter.
