TWO GOATS STILL BREAKING RECORDS DESPITE AGE

Even as their 30s edge toward their twilight years, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi show no signs of slowing down. The two icons of modern football once again proved that greatness knows no expiry date with both delivering record-breaking performances that lit up the global stage on Tuesday night.

RONALDO BREAKS ANOTHER RECORD AS PORTUGAL HELD BY HUNGARY

Portugal’s hopes of early qualification for the 2026 World Cup were put on hold after Dominik Szoboszlai’s stoppage-time equaliser earned Hungary a 2–2 draw in Lisbon. Yet, the evening belonged once again to Cristiano Ronaldo, who broke another remarkable record in his glittering career.

After Attila Szalai gave Hungary a shock early lead, Ronaldo responded with the relentlessness that has defined him for two decades. The 39-year-old forward equalised in the 22nd minute from Nélson Semedo’s cross before heading home another just before the interval.

The brace elevated Ronaldo to 40 World Cup qualifying goals, surpassing Guatemala’s Carlos Ruiz to become the all-time leading scorer in World Cup qualifiers. It also extended his world record to 143 international goals in 225 appearances numbers that may never be touched.

Portugal dominated large parts of the match, striking the woodwork twice, but Szoboszlai’s late strike denied them the win. Despite the frustration, Ronaldo’s historic double reaffirmed his status as a phenomenon of enduring excellence.

MESSI ORCHESTRATES MASTERCLASS AS ARGENTINA THRASH PUERTO RICO

Across the Atlantic, Lionel Messi reminded the world why he remains football’s greatest artist. Playing at his Inter Miami home ground, the 38-year-old World Cup winner delivered two assists and controlled every tempo of Argentina’s 6–0 victory over Puerto Rico in a friendly on Tuesday night.

Messi’s trademark vision was on full display. His delicate lob set up Gonzalo Montiel’s opener, and his clever backheel later created Lautaro Martínez’s second goal in the 83rd minute.

Having sat out Argentina’s previous match, Messi returned to the starting lineup with his usual authority.

“He makes everything easier for his teammates and for football itself,” said manager Lionel Scaloni. “Every time he plays, he gives us something special.”

Argentina also saw goals from Alexis Mac Allister and an own goal as they continued their World Cup preparations in dominant fashion. Even against the 155th-ranked Puerto Rico, Messi’s creativity and calm drew standing ovations — proof that his magic remains undimmed.

Legends That Transcend Time

Whether in Lisbon or Miami, on Europe’s grandest stage or in an American friendly, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi continue to push boundaries long after their supposed peak.

Ronaldo’s drive and discipline keep him at football’s summit, while Messi’s artistry and intelligence make him the heartbeat of every team he graces.

Two paths. Two styles. One shared truth both remain unmatched.
