Shamsunnahar Jr emerges most valuable player in WFL

Shamsunnahar Jr of Farashganj Sporting Club has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Women’s Football League (WFL), which concluded Friday night at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium.

Shamsunnahar also received a cash award of Tk 50,000 for her performance in the league.

National team goalkeeper Rupna Chakma was adjudged the league’s best goalkeeper after delivering consistently strong performances for champions Rajshahi Stars Football Club. She received Tk 50,000 as prize money.

Alpi Akhter of Rajshahi Stars was recognised as the league’s highest scorer, netting 29 goals and securing the Golden Boot. With this tally, she also became the highest scorer in the domestic women’s league.

Rajshahi Stars Football Club emerged as the champion of the competition, while Farashganj Sporting Club finished as runners-up.

The prizes were distributed by Mahfuza Akhter Kiran, head of the women’s wing of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), and BFF Vice President Fahad Karim.
