The government of Bangladesh is preparing to take a more direct role in addressing legal and administrative issues affecting Bangladesh cricket, with Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque indicating that efforts are underway to clear the path for the return of veteran cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

Speaking on Tuesday, the newly appointed state minister acknowledged that ongoing legal cases against the two former captains of Bangladesh National Cricket Team have complicated their involvement in domestic cricket.

However, he stressed that these matters would be reviewed at the state level to ensure a fair and swift resolution.

“If there are legal obstacles, they should be addressed properly and without delay,” Aminul said, emphasising that the government wants both players to return and contribute to the country’s cricketing development.

Rather than focusing solely on individual players, the state minister framed the issue within a broader reform agenda for the sport.

He also expressed concern over the most recent election of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, describing it as “questionable” and suggesting that the matter would be discussed further.

According to Aminul, the government plans to hold consultations soon to evaluate both governance issues and player-related concerns.

He signalled that corrective step could be taken within a short timeframe to restore stability and direction in the sport.

The remarks suggest a potential phase of closer state oversight in cricket administration, as the government looks to rebuild confidence, strengthen institutional transparency, and bring experienced players back into the national setup.
