The National Sports Council (NSC) has officially dissolved the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, following widespread allegations of irregularities in the board’s most recent election.

The move comes after a detailed probe committee report highlighted significant flaws in the electoral process and called for reforms to ensure transparency, fairness, and credibility in future BCB elections.

In place of the dissolved board, the NSC will form an 11-member ad hoc committee chaired by national cricket team’s former captain Tamim Iqbal. The interim committee will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the BCB and preparing for fresh election, which are expected to be conducted within 90 days.

Officials at the NSC confirmed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has already been notified about the investigation findings and the government’s decision to appoint an interim committee. The authorities are now awaiting the ICC’s feedback before taking further steps.

“The investigation revealed massive irregularities in the previous election, prompting us to dissolve the board and appoint an ad hoc committee,” said an NSC official.

“This committee will manage all BCB affairs, including cricket operations, administration, and the organisation of a new, transparent election within the stipulated 90-day timeframe,” the official added.

Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque emphasised that any government intervention regarding the BCB would follow thorough consultations with the ICC in light of the probe report.

Cricket analysts and fans are now closely watching how the new interim committee under Tamim Iqbal will stabilise the administration and restore confidence in Bangladesh cricket ahead of upcoming international commitments.
