The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced changes to match timings for the upcoming home series against New Zealand and the Sri Lanka women’s team as part of a national effort to conserve electricity and fuel.

Under the revised schedule, the three-match One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand will now begin at 11am local time instead of the previously scheduled 3pm.

Meanwhile, the Twenty20 International (T20I) matches have been moved forward to 2pm from 6pm. By avoiding evening hours, the BCB expects to reduce the use of stadium floodlights, allowing the ODIs to conclude by 6:30pm and T20Is by 5:10pm.

Interim President of BCB Tamim Iqbal had indicated on Wednesday that daylight scheduling would be adopted to save energy, with the board formalising the exact timings on Thursday.

The New Zealand team is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on 13 April for the white-ball tour. The ODI series will begin at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on 17 April, followed by the second ODI on 20 April at the same venue. The final ODI will be played in Chattogram at Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium on 23 April.

Chattogram will also host the first two T20Is on 27 and 29 April, with the concluding match returning to Mirpur on 2 May.

The BCB has also confirmed adjustments to the Sri Lanka women’s team T20I series this month. The three matches, initially set for 6pm, will now be played in the afternoon to align with the energy conservation initiative. Officials emphasised that these changes reflect a broader national effort to reduce electricity and fuel consumption while maintaining a full cricketing calendar.
