President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Ad Hoc Committee Tamim Iqbal said that the board elections will be held before the scheduled timeframe. He said that there is a plan to hold elections in the beginning of June.
Speaking to reporters during the second ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand on Tuesday, Tamim said that they do not want to take the allotted 90 days.
He said that “We are supposed to hold such elections by 21 July. That doesn’t mean you have to wait till then."
“Our first choice is to hold the election in the first week of June and if that is not possible, we will definitely complete the election in the second week," he added.
The current 11-member ad hoc committee formed after the dissolution of the previous board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul has been given the responsibility of overseeing the board’s activities and holding elections on time.
Tamim also revealed plans to reintroduce the ball boy in international matches with the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand.
He mentioned that this practice prevalent in other countries was stopped without any obvious reason.
Recalling the beginning of his cricket career, Tamim said that he served as a ball boy in several matches in 1999, including a match of the Marylebone Cricket Club in Chittagong.
