The Bangladesh women’s team made a dominating start in beach kabaddi in the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, defeating one of the tournament’s strongest contenders, Thailand, by a convincing 51-34 margin on Thursday.
Displaying an aggressive approach from the outset, Bangladesh quickly took control of the match. Although Thailand showed early resistance, they struggled to cope with the pace of Bangladesh’s raiders and the discipline of their defence.
By the end of the first half, Bangladesh had established a solid 10-point lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
The Bangladesh team maintained dominance throughout, excelling in both raiding and defensive play. While Thailand attempted a late comeback, Bangladesh’s tactical execution and consistency ensured a comfortable victory.
This 17-point win not only highlights Bangladesh’s strengths but also positions them as an early favourite in the tournament. Traditionally a strong force in South Asian kabaddi, Bangladesh once again demonstrated its quality on the international stage.
The emphatic victory is expected to provide a significant psychological boost as the team looks ahead to the knockout stages.
Bangladesh will face Nepal in their second match on Friday.
