Bangladesh T20 captain Litton Das has called on his teammates to play with freedom and without pressure as the side begins a new chapter in the shortest format of cricket, following their absence from the last ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the opening match against New Zealand National Cricket Team, Litton stressed that the immediate goal is to rebuild confidence and rhythm rather than focusing too far ahead.

Bangladesh head into the series with mixed recent performances. The team registered convincing series wins over Afghanistan and Ireland but endured a disappointing whitewash against the West Indies, highlighting inconsistencies, particularly in the batting department.

Addressing those concerns, the skipper avoided placing pressure on individuals, instead encouraging a natural settling-in process.

“We don’t want to burden anyone at the start. Let them play. After a couple of matches, players will understand their roles better,” Litton said.

He also pointed to a busy international calendar as a positive sign. With upcoming T20 series against Australia and India, Bangladesh will play nine matches against top-tier opponents, offering valuable preparation and exposure.

“The more we play, the easier it becomes to adapt. These back-to-back series will help us build momentum,” he added.

Looking ahead, Litton confirmed that preparations are already underway for the 2028 T20 World Cup, with the team aiming to build on previous groundwork despite missing the 2026 edition in India.

He suggested that the team has already moved on from that disappointment, emphasising a renewed focus on performance and mindset.

“In international cricket, every match matters. The players understand that, and they will take the field with a winning mindset,” he said.
