The women’s kabaddi team of Bangladesh clinched the bronze medal in the ongoing Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation General Secretary S M Newaz Sohag termed the Bangladesh kabaddi team’s success as a major milestone for the nation’s kabaddi.

The team formally received their medals on Monday after a spirited campaign throughout the tournament. An emotional atmosphere prevailed at the medal ceremony as the players, wearing the red-and-green jersey, stood proudly on the podium.

India won the gold medal, while Sri Lanka confirmed silver.

BKF General Secretary S M Newaz Sohag was present at the prize distribution ceremony and congratulated the players, terming the success as a major milestone for the nation’s kabaddi.

The Bangladesh women's kabaddi team displayed disciplined and attacking play throughout the competition. Despite losing to strong contenders India in the semi-finals, their overall performance and fighting spirit drew praise from analysts.

“Our girls have upheld the country’s pride on foreign soil. This bronze medal is not just a medal but the result of hard work and proper planning,” said Sohag.

He added that the team had aimed to regain a medal, and the players delivered on that goal. Bangladesh won a bronze medal in beach kabaddi at the Asian Beach Games after a fourteen-year hiatus.
