Bangladesh have moved up to eighth place in the latest ICC Men’s T20I team rankings, overtaking Sri Lanka in the annual update released on Tuesday.
The rankings update applies 100 per cent weighting to matches played since May 2025 and 50 per cent to results from the preceding two years. Sri Lanka dropped six rating points, slipping to ninth place, while Afghanistan remain 10th, just one point behind.
India continue to top the men’s T20I rankings with 275 rating points, although their lead over second-placed England has narrowed to 13 points. Australia remain third with 258 points, followed by New Zealand on 247, South Africa on 244, Pakistan on 240 and West Indies on 233. The top seven positions remain unchanged.
In women’s cricket, Bangladesh stayed 10th in the ODI rankings but improved their rating by five points. They are now just one point behind Ireland, who are ninth in the rankings released on 1 May.
Australia continue to dominate the women’s ODI rankings with 287 points, ahead of England on 275 and India on 264. New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies complete the top six, while Sri Lanka sit seventh, one point behind West Indies. The top 16 positions remain unchanged.
Elsewhere in the men’s rankings, the United States rose to 13th, overtaking the Netherlands and Scotland. Nepal climbed to 17th after moving ahead of the United Arab Emirates, while Oman advanced to 19th, surpassing Canada. Italy, Spain and Cyprus also recorded gains.
The update reduced the number of ranked men’s teams from 102 to 98 after Fiji, Gambia, Greece and Israel failed to meet the minimum requirement of eight T20 internationals over the past three years. Mozambique recorded the steepest fall, dropping 15 places.
