The Bangladesh women’s national futsal team moved up two places in the latest FIFA women’s futsal rankings, climbing from 44th to 42nd following their impressive performance in the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship.

FIFA published the updated men’s and women’s futsal rankings on Friday. The top six nations in the women’s rankings remained unchanged from the previous edition released in December 2025, with Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Italy and Japan occupying the leading positions.

Brazil continues to hold the top spot in both the men’s and women’s futsal rankings. The women’s rankings include a total of 96 countries, while the men’s category features 143 nations.

Bangladesh women’s futsal team had earlier participated in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup in 2017, which helped the side secure an international ranking previously.

Bangladesh recently achieved a historic milestone by becoming the inaugural champion of the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand. Led by captain Sabina Khatun, the team remained unbeaten throughout the seven-nation tournament, recording five wins and one draw.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh men’s national futsal team currently ranks 139th in the FIFA futsal rankings after participating in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers for the first time in 2025 and competing in the SAFF tournament.
