The Bangladesh women’s national under-18 field hockey team bounced back from their opening-match defeat to earn a 2–0 victory over the Chinese Taipei women’s national under-18 field hockey team in their second Pool B match of the Women’s U-18 Asia Cup held in Kakamigahara on Monday.
After a scoreless first quarter, Kona Akter gave Bangladesh the lead from a penalty corner in the 29th minute.
Bangladesh maintained control for much of the contest, and Airin Riya sealed the victory with a field goal in the 55th minute.
The win marked a strong response from the young Bangladeshi side after suffering a heavy 12–0 defeat against host nation Japan's women's team for under-18 field hockey in their opening group-stage match.
Bangladesh will next face China's women’s national under-18 field hockey team in their third Pool B match, scheduled for Tuesday.
