Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has resigned from his position as Bangladesh’s national bowling coach, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed in a statement released on Thursday.
The BCB said Shaun Tait had earlier informed the board of his personal circumstances and had even expressed a willingness to continue in a reduced or shortened capacity. However, following further discussions, both sides agreed to bring his tenure to an official close.
Shaun Tait joined Bangladesh’s national team coaching staff in May 2025 as the fast-bowling coach. During his time with the team, he was credited with making a notable impact on the development of the pace attack and helping nurture several emerging fast bowlers.
Under his guidance, Bangladesh’s fast-bowling unit showed visible improvement, with the team producing several encouraging performances in international cricket. His stint is widely seen as a positive phase for the development of the country’s pace bowling resources.
In his farewell message, Tait described his time with the Bangladesh national team as a privilege and praised the dedication of both players and support staff. He said working with the group had been a rewarding experience.
He added that the decision to his resignation was not an easy one and expressed gratitude to the BCB for their support and understanding throughout the process. Tait also said he was proud of the progress made by Bangladesh’s fast bowlers and believes they have a strong and promising future ahead, wishing the team continued success.
