The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Somoy TV and T Sports, ending uncertainty over local coverage in Bangladesh.

Sources familiar with the arrangements said a final decision on broadcasting rights has been reached. Somoy TV and T Sports had already confirmed plans to air the competition, while sources at BTV said issues surrounding the broadcasting agreement had now been resolved.

The tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, is scheduled to begin on 11 June.

After a prolonged period of uncertainty, BTV, with support from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, secured the broadcasting rights from FIFA and will share coverage with Somoy TV and T Sports.

Viewers will have access to key matches, highlights programmes and tournament analysis throughout the competition. BTV’s nationwide reach is also expected to ensure that football fans across the country, including those in remote areas, can watch the matches.

The announcement has brought clarity for supporters who had been unsure whether the World Cup would be available on local television.

The 2026 tournament will be the largest in FIFA World Cup history, featuring 48 teams for the first time. It will also be the first edition of the competition to be hosted by three countries.
