The authorities have declared a complete shutdown of the airline's passenger service operations due to the strike of flight attendants. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants, said in a statement, "We are currently officially on strike."
Air Canada, which operates direct flights to 180 cities around the world, said that all Air Canada operations have been suspended due to the strike of the employees.
The airline said that affected passengers are advised not to travel to the airport. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the strike.
Earlier, the Canadian Union of Public Employees called for a 72-hour strike by Air Canada employees on Wednesday. Air Canada authorities gradually took steps to limit their operations in view of the possible movement of workers.
In a statement issued by Air Canada at around 8 pm local time on Friday, it said that 623 flights operating on various routes around the world have been canceled due to the strike of workers. As a result, more than 100,000 passengers are concerned about the disruption of travel services. Later, the company also canceled the schedule of 700 daily flights scheduled for Saturday.
