Missile fire from Iran injured three people in Jerusalem late on Sunday, Israeli medics reported, with police confirming a “direct impact” on a city highway.

“A direct impact of a munition was identified on one of the main roads in Jerusalem,” police said in a statement, releasing footage showing officers at a section of highway littered with rubble.

Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, said the three injured included a 46-year-old man with moderate shrapnel wounds. Several others received treatment for minor injuries at the scene.

AFP journalists in Jerusalem reported hearing a series of loud explosions after the Israeli military detected missiles launched from Iran.

Footage broadcast by Kan public television and Channel 12 showed police and emergency responders deployed in areas with visible damage, both “in the centre of the country” and in the Jerusalem area. In Jerusalem, roads were strewn with debris and rocks, while in central Israel, damaged vehicles were visible.

Military censorship restrictions prevent the media from reporting the precise locations of the missile impacts.
