Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday morning regarding the joint US–Israeli military campaign against Iran, marking the first briefing by a senior official since the strikes began on Saturday.
The press conference will take place at 08:00 local time (13:00 GMT), the Pentagon announced on Sunday. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will also participate.
Hegseth is set to visit Congress on Tuesday alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio to brief lawmakers on the progress of the operation, the White House said.
Democratic lawmakers have criticised the administration for failing to consult them before the military action commenced.
The US and Israeli forces struck targets in Iran on Saturday. Iranian state media confirmed on Sunday that one of the strikes in Tehran killed the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
