The Iran Red Crescent casualty toll has risen to 787 people killed nationwide since the United States and Israel began military strikes on Iranian territory, according to figures released on Tuesday by the humanitarian organisation.
In a statement published on its official website, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said that 787 people had been killed in attacks carried out since Saturday. “According to field reports from operational teams, unfortunately, 787 compatriots have been martyred in these attacks,” the organisation stated. The figures could not be independently verified.
The Red Crescent said strikes had targeted 153 cities and more than 500 locations across the country, with over 1,000 separate attacks recorded in recent days. The reported scale of the bombardment marks one of the most extensive military escalations in Iran in decades.
Explosions were heard in Tehran on Tuesday, according to journalists in the capital. Iranian media outlets also reported blasts in Karaj, west of Tehran, and in the central city of Isfahan, an area known for strategic industrial and nuclear-linked facilities.
The intensifying conflict carries significant implications for regional security and global energy markets. Iran is a major oil producer and a central player in Gulf energy flows, while continued hostilities risk disruption to infrastructure, export terminals and shipping routes critical to international crude and gas supplies.
Tehran has not released updated official casualty figures beyond the Red Crescent statement. The United States and Israel have said their operations are aimed at degrading Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities, amid rising tensions across the Middle East.
The widening military campaign has heightened geopolitical risk premiums in oil markets and increased concerns over potential spillover effects in the Strait of Hormuz, a key transit corridor for global energy exports.
