EU and Gulf ministers held crisis talks via video link on Thursday, calling on Iran to immediately halt “indiscriminate” attacks across the region following US-Israeli strikes, warning that global security is at risk.

The ministers condemned Iranian attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries — including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Oman — and affirmed these nations’ right to take “all necessary measures” to defend themselves.

The ministers emphasised their “unwavering commitment to dialogue and diplomacy” as the preferred path to resolving the crisis and pledged joint efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons while curbing its production and proliferation of ballistic missiles and drones.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, who chaired the talks, noted that Europe faces constraints in supplying air-defence systems, as production of drone interceptors is stretched by high demand in both Ukraine and the Middle East. She warned that capabilities are limited and that production must be accelerated to meet regional needs.
