Gulf air defence response operations intensified on Monday as the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait activated systems to intercept incoming missile and drone threats, reflecting rising regional security concerns.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defence systems were actively engaging missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles targeting the country. Authorities stated that the sounds heard across different parts of the UAE were linked to ongoing interception operations.

The ministry said its systems were responding in real time to aerial threats, indicating a coordinated defence effort to neutralise incoming projectiles. No immediate details were provided on damage or casualties.

At the same time, Kuwait’s armed forces reported similar developments, confirming that its air defence units were intercepting hostile missiles and drones aimed at its territory. The Kuwaiti military said the response was part of ongoing defensive measures to protect national airspace.

Kuwait had earlier indicated that its forces responded to comparable threats overnight from Sunday to Monday, suggesting a continuing pattern of aerial activity across the Gulf region.

The developments come amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, a region critical to global oil supply and energy infrastructure. While there were no confirmed disruptions to energy facilities, sustained missile and drone threats raise concerns over the security of key assets and the stability of regional energy markets.

The activation of air defence systems in both countries underscores the strategic importance of maintaining operational readiness in a volatile security environment, where even limited escalations can have broader economic and energy implications.
