Iran-backed Hezbollah launched approximately 30 projectiles from Lebanon into northern Israel on Friday, causing damage to property and vehicles. Air-raid sirens were activated across the Galilee region after several strikes were reported in Safed, where direct hits impacted civilian cars. Additional impacts were recorded in the towns of Baana and Deir al-Assad, where a building sustained damage.
The Israeli military confirmed that a reservist was seriously wounded by shrapnel following an explosive drone attack on positions in southern Lebanon earlier that day.
The escalation comes despite a broader truce recently brokered between the United States and Iran. Israel maintains that the ceasefire agreement does not extend to its operations in Lebanon, where it has continued an intense campaign. On Friday, Israeli airstrikes on a government complex in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatiyeh killed at least 13 members of the Lebanese State Security forces. The Lebanese health ministry reported that the total death toll from Israeli strikes across the country has risen to 1,953 since the conflict intensified in early March.
Tensions between Hezbollah and Israeli forces originally flared on 2 March after the militant group initiated rocket fire in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
Since the start of the current hostilities, the Israeli military claims to have dismantled over 4,300 Hezbollah sites and killed more than 1,400 fighters. On the Israeli side, 12 soldiers have been killed during operations in southern Lebanon. The ongoing violence has further strained regional stability as diplomats prepare for formal negotiations in Washington next week.
