Iran’s foreign ministry has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, describing it as part of a wider understanding reached earlier between the Islamic republic and the United States to pause the Middle East conflict, according to state media.
Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the announcement of the truce in Lebanon was welcomed and stated that “the cessation of the war in Lebanon was part of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan,” the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Telegram.
The comments come amid a series of diplomatic developments linked to efforts to stabilise the region following months of escalating conflict involving Iran, Israel, the United States and allied regional actors. Iran has previously framed the Lebanon situation within broader negotiations linked to a temporary pause in hostilities across the wider Middle East.
No additional details were provided by Iranian officials on the implementation or scope of the reported ceasefire understanding.
