Russian forces have launched hundreds of drones and nearly two dozen missiles in overnight attacks across Ukraine, leaving more than 30 people wounded, Ukrainian officials said on Monday. The strikes mark another escalation in long-range attacks as both sides intensify their air campaigns.
Ukraine said the industrial city of Dnipro, south-east of Kyiv, was among the main targets. Local officials released images showing damaged residential buildings with blown-out windows following the strikes.
Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the regional administration, said 26 people were injured in the Dnipro region alone. He said the area was hit “with missiles, drones, artillery and aerial bombs” across six districts.
Ukraine’s air force said Russian forces launched 546 drones overnight, the majority of which were intercepted. However, it said only four of 22 missiles were successfully shot down.
Officials said Ukraine has developed an extensive air defence system to counter Russian drone attacks but continues to struggle to intercept incoming missiles.
Separate strikes in the southern cities of Odesa, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia injured a further five people, according to regional authorities.
The latest wave of attacks comes after a period of intensified fighting in which both Russia and Ukraine have carried out some of their heaviest long-range strikes in months.
Russia has continued to target Ukrainian cities since launching its full-scale invasion more than four years ago, with air raids remaining a central feature of the conflict.
