France on Saturday announced an entry ban on Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir following controversy surrounding his comments and actions related to activists detained from a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
The decision was confirmed by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, who said Ben Gvir would no longer be allowed to enter French territory due to what he described as “reprehensible actions” directed at French and European citizens involved in the humanitarian flotilla mission.
The move came after Ben Gvir posted a video on social media appearing to mock activists who had been detained and restrained by Israeli forces after attempting to sail towards Gaza with humanitarian aid supplies.
The flotilla incident has triggered strong reactions across Europe, with several governments expressing concern over the treatment of activists and the rhetoric used by Israeli officials following the operation.
