Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the United States and Iran have agreed on a framework for a peace deal following more than three months of conflict and are expected to sign an initial agreement within the next 24 hours.

Speaking on Saturday, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has been playing a mediating role in efforts to bring an end to the ongoing war and facilitate dialogue between the two sides. He added that the progress made in negotiations marks a significant breakthrough after months of tension and instability in the region.

According to him, the proposed agreement will first be concluded through an electronic signing process, which is expected to formalise the initial framework. This will then be followed by technical-level discussions between the two sides in the coming week to work out remaining details and implementation mechanisms.

Shehbaz Sharif did not provide specific details of the terms of the framework but suggested that the pace of negotiations had accelerated significantly in recent days, leading to expectations of an imminent agreement.

The Pakistani Prime Minister’s remarks come amid heightened international attention on efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly given the broader geopolitical implications of prolonged conflict in the region.

Pakistan has positioned itself as a facilitator in the diplomatic process, engaging with both sides to encourage dialogue and prevent further escalation. Officials in Islamabad have indicated that continued engagement will be necessary even after any initial agreement is reached, particularly to support follow-up technical negotiations.

If confirmed, the deal would represent a major diplomatic development in efforts to stabilise relations between the two countries after a prolonged period of hostilities.
