Representatives from Israel and Lebanon are set to meet in Rome next month to continue indirect negotiations over a comprehensive security agreement.
The US State Department confirmed on Monday that technical teams will hold three days of discussions from 4 August to 6 August.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani first revealed plans for the Italian-hosted session last week, with American diplomatic sources confirming further details shortly after.
According to a State Department official, technical working groups will focus on advancing the full implementation of an existing framework deal.
The agenda includes expanding designated pilot zones, resolving longstanding land border disputes, and working towards a broader peace agreement.
The framework deal was agreed following the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah on 2 March amid wider regional tensions.
Under the terms of the proposal, Israeli forces are scheduled to withdraw gradually from two pilot zones in southern Lebanon.
In turn, Lebanese government troops are expected to deploy across the region, while non-state armed groups will be disarmed.
American officials believe that testing the initial pilot zones will help refine security arrangements before expanding them across larger areas.
However, challenges remain on the ground as the Lebanese army voiced criticism on Sunday over ongoing Israeli military activity in southern areas.
Military leaders in Beirut stated that continued action hinders the deployment of state forces into the designated security zones.
Authorities in the capital have also reported sporadic shelling and air strikes across the border zone despite a general lull in overall fighting.
